I stuck this in Celeb Xtra because, it's not celeb photos, but it is celeb news. It has more in common with the lists you find in celeb xtra than other forums on phun. It seemed like the right place.

It was a great year for movies. Hard to argue with the nominations. Would have liked more for Godzilla.

It’s always interesting to see how they just randomly dole out the technical awards. For example, Killers of the Flower Moon for best editing? The movie was three and a half hours long with no masterful editing on display, and in fact one of the main criticisms was its length.

Barbie, on the other hand, had a lot more editing wizardry in it, yet no one seemed to notice or care.

    yeah, I’m a bitter editor.

Barbie for script and Oppy for sound just shows that these things are 95% movie-political and nothing to do with the actual quality.
Nolan for best director? For Oppenheimer? Really?

I would argue that at least half of all films are saved in editing. They along with writers are the unsung heroes of filmmaking.

I really hope the holdovers (loved it) wins best picture (Paul Giamatti was great!)

BUT I say Oppenheimer gets the trophy!

Agreed. But Oppenheimer was fantastic. Hoping Nolan wins Best Director. Want Giamatti to win as well

I would vote American Fiction for Best Picture, but it's not going to win

I thought Nolan did a nice job on "Oppenheimer" but I suspect this is going to be more of a life-time achievement award.

I really connected with the holdovers so im glad it got some love. Other than that i feel that mos of the nominees that should be there is there. Maybe a nomination for Dominic Sessa is missing but overall ok. The director category looks a bit weak.

Seeing some of the PC police complaining about Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig not getting noms for their respective work as actress and director on Barbie, like it is an affront to all women they weren't nominated:rolleyes:
