Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

How is it possible for jpg...to be a gif????

    I found this on Facebook,its a jpg file but in reality its a gif...how is that possible????:confused:

    if you right click on it and get image information, you should see that it is a .gif file with 8 frames of animation. a lot of times, facebook and other websites that host images will use a sort of "mask" over the images using javascript or something similar so that they display as one format. it's a lot like if you have a file on your computer that is saved in a wrong format, yet your default program reads it and displays it anyway.

    Browsers are smarter than you think. Although it is a GIF, it has been renamed to a JPG. The browser looks at the actual file itself and ignores the extension. Therefore, it is still rendered as a GIF.
