I know this has been brought up before, but I can't find the thread.

Is there any chance that we could have some sort of 'guidlines' for how women are referred to here?

This slut, whore etc is getting beyond a joke.

I know the mods don't need extra work and I know it is a porn board - but if racial terms are frowned upon for fear of offending people of different races, why is acceptable to use words that would offend women?

We have multiple sections here, so obviously there are videos that have whore or slut in the titles in the porn videos section, but in celebs?

Truth is, it is these comments that lead to celeb threads getting spammed as fans react to the regular crew who use such terms.

im getting tired of it too. I cant recall that we have any specific guidline. But having been on celebboards myself for a few years (superiorpics) i have a rule of thumb i go by and that is " if you dont like what you see dont bother posting in the thread".

Debate and exchanges can still take place - but I don't see the point of comments like ' this slut wants it so bad'. All other normal rules in society seem to be observed on phun with the exception of insulting woman.

I can't call another member a whore, wanker etc (in ernest) but I can call a woman slut, tramp, whore? It doesn't make any sense at all to me.

it all comes down to that certain members is maybe to young to fully understand how argumentations work. As a last resort its the wanker, slut and whore comments they go to. Then again this is no news to you gaps. Sure i want a healthy debate and conversation too its the simple oneliners that comes every nowand then that gets tireing.

I think you are missing my point.

The words in themselves is what I am talking about, not necessarily how they are used.

I can't say the 'N' word as it is a racist term and is offensive to some. I can however use the likes of slut and whore which are sexist terms and offensive to women.

Why is one form of abusive language permitted and not the other? Are women less worthy than, to use my example, people of colour? Why is it frowned upon to abuse someone race and yet you can use such language against women?

The sub heading of the celeb forum is "Where the famous girls meet eachother" would you really want any woman exposed to such terms?

I can't see anybody being likely to disagree with the basic thrust of your thread, Gap.

The Celeb forums are not porn forums, any more than the General Forum, and I have no problem with something like a "No celeb foul-mouthing" rule. However, if we were to go ahead with it, I don't think such a rule should proscribe a specific list of words or phrases, but should be left up to Mods to interpret - their decision being final.

PS I'd especially value Kieks' input - the Celeb forums are close to his heart.

I'd guess that if included in the rules it wouldn't take long before it became generally adopted like the PLAYBOY rule for example.

And flip, I wasn't disagreeing with you, simply trying to make clear my point that is as much respect for the subject of the thread and female users rather than exchanges between members! !

I too have long been tired of some of the language used in reference to female celebs. But I don't think we should bring in any set guidelines/rules, given we have enough already. There are some users who have used a derogatory term in several of their posts, and they usually get shot down fairly quickly by other users, which helps things (provided it doesn't turn into a flame fest).

So I wouldn't discourage people from calling out a user if they found their language use to be inappropriate, provided it stays within boundaries, and hopefully this wil see such language to reduce.

I also agree with Gap , the simple solution is ... Let's say you don't like Kim Kardashian , Why click on the thread to begin with?
There are many , many celebs that some find attractive that i don't , i simply don't click the thread.
    It's very simple actually.

If there were a rule stating that strong derogatory terms against celebs are frowned upon, at least members could highlight the potential infringement within that thread which would discourage the usual offenders . I'm surprised that a pro active approach from members isn't being embraced more.

I'm not sure that was what Gap's was talking about. It's not about liking a celeb or not,it's about people making crude comments about females.I'm not disturbed by the fact that a celeb I like has rude comments posted on her thread, but by the fact that derogatory comments, female orientated, have been made in the first place on any thread in CF.

Honestly, some of the comments in there make JK seem mature and Gxnn look like a Mensa candidate!

I'm not into censorship but I am into common decency. Mostly. Gratuitous use of derogatory terms toward women or as racial terms disgust me. What's more they're ignorant, no matter how inoffensive their use is meant to be. I'm all for a rule or behavioral guideline that the staff could justly enforce and that the majority of members would embrace.

I would like to point out though that hip hop culture has brought a number of derogatory terms once considered taboo into the mainstream - not the least of which is '******,' which is bandied about like a term of affection - and not just among black folks either (though they've long "owned" it). Bitch, whore, slut and their derivatives are just as common. Cunt, which is highly offensive in the USA no matter how you use it, seems to be the odd word out here because of it's long popular use in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. Cultural differences need to be approached with common sense, not animosity. We don't need to be turning people into pariahs over issues of personal expression. There are exceptions of course. Some people are truly heinous, but we already have mechanisms in place to deal with them.

Let's not lose sight of the fact that folks are jerking off to CF content. It's seems only natural to me that someone with his dick in his hand might look at JLH pics and blurt out "Goddamn, I wanna tittyfuck the shit outta this %$#@~."

Seeing as you say that, and something of a side note, I don't understand either why you guys like to tell each other when, how and what you masturbated too.

    Each to there own though.

This is a legitimate issue that so far has been discussed in an adult fashion. Please let's keep it that way! :)
The patchy attendance of Mods and Admins means that it takes a while to establish a consensus.

Also what needs to be noted is the usage. If it is done jokingly with appropriate smileys, some words/phrases can be made light of.

However, if for example it is just like one word "whore", I fully agree it is trolling, uncalled for, and degrading the posters thread.

To fully prohibit peoples fun (phun) expression here would be painful. I too also have friends from the UK who use the word "cunt" like it is "hello".

I think we have great mods here and if they deem necessary, they can delete the post/thread as necessary and take appropriate action.

I often say "fuck me" or "love me some of that" sort of things, and it is meant and taken as support and thanks for the thread.
