Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

    Talking size again ... I know it's been debated already but in fact couldn't find a real answer as limits are concerned.
    The one I'm showing here has a size of 642x104 which is wider than normal but considerably lower so in fact the product is 66.768 px which is smaller than the standard size (450x150) which amounts to 67.500 px.
    Filesize is 46.6 kB which is again smaller than most standard sigs so loading a page shouldn't take longer than normal; it should even go faster.
    Advantage of this one is there's less space taken in a post due to its lowered height (30% less) so more posts can fit on a page.

    It's just a suggestion but couldn't rules be set/reset to for example:

    Max. height: 150. If 150 high, max width = 450 (sum = 67.500 px).
    Max. width: 675. If 675 wide, max height = 100 (sum = 67.500 px).
    If lower than 150, width may be wider than 450 as long as product doesn't exceed 67.500 px and width doesn't exceed 675.


    Examples of allowed:
    450x150
    500x135
    540x125
    675x100

    Point is that wider sigs don't take pages longer to load as long as height is adjusted accordingly while posts are less high in total so more will fit on a page.
    It seemed only logical to me but I'll await the mod(s) answer(s).

    Current sig is shown only to demonstrate my point.

    the main concern is the height, yes - and the attempt to limit a sig to a "sig" and not let it tend towards a picture-post of it´s own.

    a signature is a signature. not really unimportant, but also not the most important part of a letter/post.
