  3. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

    At least IS is an imagehost that works for 3-4 years now,sometimes good,sometimes not so good.
    For me it's terrible if a host quits his service after a few months,like photos.cx.
    For the future we need our own pic/file hoster.

    I don't think disabeling avatars is the cure.

    Other forums have to handle that bandwith too.

    Cayne pays enough money for the hosting,so he should kick some asses there :lol:

    avatars are hosted on phun-servers. no avatars = less data-transfer

    other forums don´t pay that much attention for guests (most of them don´t have any)...

    if i were a hoster i´d always recommend additional servers... that´s their business... (anyone remembers that they said the latest server-upgrade was good for > 6000 members and guests online simultaneously?)

    anyways: all, again all replys on how can i reduce server-load" on each and every "vbulletin"-support-forum recommend disabling showing "who´s online" in the first place. obviously this feature needs king-size server-power. turn it down for the (usually 2000-3000 guests). sounds reasonable, doesnt it? a few clicks in the admin-CP.

    in general i agree, but maybe you´d also be a little concerned if you, like me, got some malware through imagevenue´s advertising-system and had to spend a day to get rid of these root-kits. that´s most def. not a minor issue.

    @ your last point:maybe you got some malware from an infected pic, hosted on IV,but for sure not from IV itself,it's the best imagehosting service we have at the moment.

    no, someone exploited the "skip this ad"-advertising-campaign by imagevenue. shouldn´t happen to a professional imagehost.

    btw.: a little more active admin-presence would be much more iportant.
    why is it always necessary to "get on his nerves" to get rid of glitches, malfunctions etc.?

    if he couldn't handle it, it's his own fault...

    Photogiga has been working very good for me
    in the past few days, but i still like dreamuploader

    even i of all people say no way. i agree 100% with tai.

    would be interesting to do some more long-term testing with www.dreamuploader.com since it does seem pretty cool and it's fast, but it also seems very new since they have less than 4,000 images.

    it currently says they are hosting 3,673 images. that's not a lot.

    I tested it for CTF's gif animation thread...

    I was amazed that it only has so few images uploaded...

    And the number is still rising very slowly...

    I think it's a decent to use nice hotlinkable filehost !

    EDIT : Arrghh thats all i've been seeing tonight !

    Another upside to not using photos.cx anymore is that he won't be able to crack the shits at us if his site goes haywire again and more importantly, the motivational pics will hopefully remain without being removed.
