Im glad they are finally done. If you are surprised, you must be very new to file sharing with a paying host. IMO, good riddance! Now maybe things will get back where people dont post the max number of allowed post with a bunch of garbage. For those who are panicking and think the sky is falling, calm the fuck down. Every time this happens it just takes a little time and another host looking to run the same game on uploaders will emerge and all will be well again. After all no need to be all that upset about not getting paid for sharing copyright material! :)

Yeah , and how many RS and mediafire links can you see here ? almost 0.
Of course if there is no rewards at all for uploaders, they wont spend time sharing files , thats a fact , maybe there is few users that will , but that wont be enough to keep this section alive .
So yes I think the staff must allowed another paid host in the future, but just choose 1 or 2 max to prevent many repost or made more limit on post number/24hours (I think 5 post is more than enough, I personally post only 1-2 max in average)

The good scenes will be shared. Just not 0.0005 seconds after being officially released. There is plenty people willing to share videos for nothing just look at any torrent site.

So very true. Even before the surge of host paying uploaders there were quality scenes being posted here in the SVF. They will never stop the free exchange of media files on the internet. Not as long as they continue to allow the major search engines to operate. You can find anything you want with a little patience and google. I still have about 2 years remaining on my Rapidshare account, and I can still find just about anything I look for posted with a good RS link. If not, there are at least a dozen other smaller not well known host that will have what your looking for. If all else fail, there is more porn on torrents than you can shake a dick at. This is just another realignment of which host will pop to the top. Just like when RS went down, and HF,FS & OR popped up. In the meantime just search google, and locate what you want, its still being uploaded somewhere!

Just curious here, but I wonder why people are still uploading things using FS and not changing over to RS or HF?

They're not... the last new FS linke posted here was 4 hours ago. Most are just adding HF links or are whining how the FS links aren't working anymore.

I think everyone is going to have to take it easy for a while and give the original uploaders some time to do what they do best. Don't bombard they with re-up requests, it'll just make them not want to do it. things will be back to normal soon. I say we thank the uploaders for the MASSIVE amounts of porn they have given us over the years. You guys rock!!!!! Thank you for all the hard work!

Thank God there still is someone like you. Since paying filehosts were allowed, the quality here dropped like hell. Back to Rapidshare, back to sharing for sharing's sake! Fuck quantity, I'd much rather getting rid of all blood-sucking parasites

This is why I never buy more than a months subscription at a time with any of these filehosts, they could go belly up at any time. So sad to see all the filesonic links go dead, many of the files will never be re-uploaded to alternative sites, particularly if all of them are staying away from paying uploaders from now on.

Guess the MU takedown had the desired chilling effect throughout the industry. USA rules the world, more's the pity.

Fake and gay, please do not get taken in, there are loads of these scams pretending to be "the return of megaupload" - trust me, they are dead and buried.

Cyberlocker Ecosystem Shocked As Big Players Take Drastic Action

In the wake of last week’s Megaupload shutdown, some of the biggest names in the market are taking drastic action. During the last 48 hours many sites have completely withdrawn their systems for paying uploaders when their files are shared with others, but one of the most dramatic moves came first from Filesonic and today Fileserve. Both services now forbid people from downloading any files they didn’t upload themselves.

While the shutdown last week of Megaupload and the arrest of its founder and management team was certainly dramatic, a situation of perhaps even greater gravity is beginning to emerge.

Over the past 48 to 72 hours, the operators of many prominent cyberlocker services have been taking unprecedented actions that can not simply be explained away by mere coincidence. The details in the Megaupload indictment clearly have some players in the file-hosting world spooked.

One of the key allegations is that between 2005 and mid 2011, Megaupload ran a program that rewarded users for uploading infringing material. A cited internal email allegedly shows staff members discussing cash payments going to people uploading “full popular DVD rips” and “software with keygenerators (Warez)”.

Although Megaupload stopped paying out rewards in July 2011, that didn’t stop the site from getting raided. Other cyberlocker services are clearly hoping they will be more lucky.

Last evening Filesonic, a top 10 player in the file-sharing world with a billion pageviews a month, not only withdrew its affiliate rewards program, but also banned any third parties downloading files. Simply put, users can now only download files from the service that they uploaded themselves.

But according to reports, there’s no guarantee of that. Account owners report that their files are being mass deleted, that’s if their entire account has been banned already.

Fileserve, another leading player, also ended its affiliate program this weekend. Additionally, this morning TorrentFreak received news that Fileserve has now joined Filesonic in banning all 3rd party downloads.

“I just paid for a premium account and can now only download my own fucking files an unlimited number of times,” said one angry user. “What use is that?”

Other users of Fileserve are experiencing an even further degraded level of service. Reports describe mass deletion of their uploads and the banning of accounts on apparent ‘Terms of Service’ violations.

But the changes at these two services appears to be just the tip of a very big and very complex iceberg. Developments at other file-hosting services are widespread.

As previously reported, Uploaded banned all US IP addresses in what appears to be an effort to distance itself from US jurisdiction. Its affiliate program is still listed as operational but the same cannot be said about those run by some of its competitors.

VideoBB and VideoZer have both reportedly closed their rewards program and according to reports have also been mass deleting accounts and huge numbers of files.

Other sites closing their affiliate programs and/or deleting accounts/files include FileJungle, UploadStation and FilePost.

Another interesting development involves so-called ‘release blogs’, sites that report on leaked material but either provide links to the material on cyberlockers or allow their users to do the same. The number of overall releases hasn’t changed much but the links currently being posted on some of these sites show less variety and volume than they did this time last week.

Do you know of other file-hosts/cyberlockers taking similar action? Send us your stories and screenshots to the usual address.

Update: Smaller host UploadBox calls it quits. “All files will be deleted on January 30th. Feel free to download the files you store with UploadBox until this date.”

Update2: Another host, x7.to, shuts down.

Update 3: TorrentFreak has seen evidence that on request PayPal is refunding cash paid to Filesonic over the weekend.

Update 4: FileJungle and UploadStation have disabled all 3rd party downloads.

Update 5: 4shared cancels affiilate program.

"The more things change, the more they stay the same." -- Alphonse Karr (though I think Bon Jovi used that line as well ;) ).

I type this quote because that's what Rapidshare must be thinking to themselves right now.

I remember when many of us we're criticizing Rapidshare when they changed their filesharing structure (twice in the past couple of years) and the uproar it caused. And now? Heh, they're one of the last filesharing services standing. ;) I guess Rapidshare had a good idea of what was going to happen when they made their drastic changes (though one wiseguy here also had an inkling that the changes might be a harbinger of the future) and now, the cashposters are all clamoring and reupping to the last few filehosters that offer some type of rewards.

Personally, I think ANY filehosting service that still offers virtual dollar rewards is asking for trouble and I figure in the next couple of weeks, you'll see a few more filehosts change their sharing policies or just straight up fall.

Lastly, a question to the mods (hopefully a couple will read this)... is there any danger of Phun going offline? I don't know how much Cayne relies on affiliate rewards to support the Phun forum - just hoping it doesn't affect it too much.

well mokkoriman since this place had become an utopia for you, why aren't you uploading stuff on rapidshare?
I have seen you criticize cashhosts and cashwhores but you are not contributing anything when phun needs content on RS now .

Excellent question, ackt... which is probably answered in the posts here and here. To be brief, I'd like to see how things settle out with the whole filesharing system and if there will be any changes made to Phun. There might very well be new filehosts to use or some that may be removed; while I think it's unlikely Rapidshare will be affected, who knows for sure, right?

'Sides, I've never like to rush when I make my uploads and I don't see the need to at this time.

To be clear, this isn't a utopia for me, ackt - it's really unfortunate that two of the major filehosts allowed here at Phun are nixed and I don't think any Phunster can be happy about that. I'm just trying to be hopeful and look at the upside of things.

yeah i understand where you are coming from .. guess we have to wait for the admins to make a decision, whether to make this place cash-host free at the cost of traffic, or bring in evil filehosts and the whole forum gets spammed again. sigh
